The Rainbow Bridge story

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.

There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.

The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again.

The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together

I had a lot of comfort from these special words when Sassy1 went to sleep and it still brings tears to my eyes, but also comfort. I hope it helps you too.

It is with great sadness that Jady joined Sassy1 on the 4th of May 2012. She became poorly and died within 24 hours. We are left devastated along with the hundreds of persons she helped in her work as a therapy dog. She can never be replaced.

On the 3rd February 2014 after a short illness Sassy2 went off to doggie heaven. Sassy2 had the most amazing life and gave so much for so little in return. If ever there was a good endingĀ for humans and a dog to part Sassy2 made it happen. Sassy2 was such a special dog to so many people but non more so than to myself persons close to me – three cheers for Sassy2.

Hopey Sadly crossed the rainbow bridge on the 25th September 2015. She did so though not a moment too soon. For the last 3 years she was using a doggie wheel chair to continue to enjoy her walks. She was ‘top dog right until the end. Hopey was a daddies girl and demanded daddies full attention even if we had visitors to stay. We will never forget Hopey – for those who met her will know what I mean. rest in piece Hopey and thank you for every moment of Joy, happiness and all the selfless love you gave us.
