Please note – We are NOT commercial breeders and only breed to keep our own line of ‘Sassyhope’ regenerating from our original Sassy and Hope from some 17 years ago.

Over the many years of breeding boxer dogs we have and continue to learn from every litter. Each time we have a litter we always learn something.

That could be that someone we thought was suitable and ready to take a boxer dog on was ready and it turned out the k9 parents were not ready or suitable. In situations like this this we act quickly and intervene and often have homes waiting for the returned pup to quickly settle into and hopefully with little of no effect on the welfare of the pup. In almost every case that has happened we have found that the current owner just wants the best for the pup and we fully respect this. If new owners are asking silly sums of money for re homed pup then the whole process gets silly and complicated.

If there is no easy settlement to the welfare of a puppy we will always ask the RSPCA for help and guidance to all parties concerned.

Any financial dealings between a current owner and a new owner is something we try and stay out of and the two parties and deal direct with each other.

It is written into our puppy sale agreements that if we loose contact with a new puppy owner in the first 6 months and after trying every means possible to make contact with the human owner then we WILL CONTACT THE RSPCA AND REQUEST A WELFARE CHECK

Sometimes at short notice families lives change – we fully understand this.

If this happens and it is a short term issue we most likely will take the pup back for a short while.

We have in the past sold puppies to retired persons as we fully understand how much of a companion dog can be especially of the retired person that has had boxer dogs before. In cases like this we will seek further assurances from other family members or close friends that no matter what happens the welfare of the dog reminds the focus of any arrangements.

No dog is sold to a new owner without both parties giving lots of thought and consideration of the many options that in the next 10-12 years might arise.

All our pups are KC registered and will be vet checked before leaving our care.

Our history
I personally work as psychotherapist and Hopey like so many of our boxer dogs are used as pets as therapy dogs. Hopeys temperament is exceptional. If she isn’t in the counselling room at home she is with me in schools.

Most recently Sassy (Hopeys mum) was featured in our local paper recognising the work she does in a school in helping students and staff with mental health issues. A therapy dog breaks down the stigma of mental health and is a total asset in a counselling environment.

Knowledge of our stud dugs
We know all the stud dogs we have used going back many generations.

Henry (the stud)is the dad to this litter of puppies. Henry is the perfect gentleman and while Hopeys and henry’s romance was short was very sweet.

Henry is a European champion and it is easy to see why he comes from good stock when we met him.
His temperment is outstanding and the owner of Henry is more than willing to talk to any potential puppy owners about his bloodlines if anyone wants too.
Doughball(the granddad) is featured on our stud page. His dad (George) is a dog we retired a few years ago and now he lives down in Bournemouth,

Once the puppies are born we will have 4 generations of female/puppies in one house – this must be getting on for a first and also shows a live commitment to show potential owners of our commitment to quality of boxer boxer dogs we have raised in a loving home and integrated into all aspects of our lives.

Behind the scenes and our research into selecting the correct stud dog

What is the coefficient of inbreeding?
In the early 1900s, animal breeders knew that breeding related animals produced more consistent, predictable traits in the offspring, but they also found that there was some loss in vitality and vigor. Fertility was lower, offspring were smaller, early mortality was higher, lifespan was shorter – things that reduced their profit and the quality of their animals, and the higher the level of inbreeding, the greater the detrimental effects. Both the benefits and the risks of inbreeding are a consequence of homozygosity (see below). So a statistic was devised that estimated the level of inbreeding that would result from a particular cross so breeders had a quantitative way of evaluating both the risks and benefits.

breeding coefficient and What does the number tell me?
The coefficient of inbreeding is the probability of inheriting two copies of the same allele from an ancestor that occurs on both sides of the pedigree. These alleles are “identical by descent”. The inbreeding coefficient is also the fraction of all of the genes of an animal that are homozygous (two copies of the same allele). So, for a mating that would result in offspring with an inbreeding coefficient of 10%, there is a one in 10 chance that any particular locus would have two copies of the same allele, and 10% of all of the genes in an animal will be homozygous.

So, in terms of health, a COI less than 5.3% for boxer dogs is definitely best. Above that, there are detrimental effects and risks, and the breeder needs to weigh these against whatever benefit is expected to gained. Inbreeding levels of 5-10% will have modest detrimental effects on the offspring

The breeding in coefficient of these puppies will be “0” Anyone can check the coefficient (COI) by checking with the tool on the KC website or giving the kennel club a call direct.

Here are the results for Hopey snd Henry

Inbreeding coefficient for SASSYHOPE DORIS SWANN (mum) and CZECH CH HENRY OPTIMA GRATA AT PORTH (IMP CZE) is 0.0%.(dad or the stud““0
The breed average is 5.3%
27 generations available of which 5 are complete
All our pups going back 5 generations with have a coefficient within a safe range with the exceptional of these pups having a a COI of zero

Also Henry has had what looks like all the medical tests possible (heart and hips etc)

We already have a list of persons who are interested in Hopey’s puppies.

All our pups are vet checked prior to any pup leaving our care.

We will vet all our potential new puppy owners and please expect us to ask the questions we need to ask to ensure that Hopeys puppies go off to the new homes that are suitable.
